Or I feel like it, that is! I made a collage! Doesn’t it look like fun?

Now before you all think I’ve officially lost my mind, let me explain. Melody from Slurping Life recently started a new blog called Wrapped Emotions. Her purpose in her new blog is to encourage her readers to connect with their emotions through artistic expression. The first assignment is to remember a candy that I ate as a child and make a collage about the feelings I had when eating the candy. My two favorite candy treats as a child were the Rocky Road candy bars and little chocolates that came in a tube. I think they were called Flicks, or something like that. Unfortunately I couldn’t find either at the store, so I went with my next favorite, M&Ms.My mom would take my younger brother and I grocery shopping when we were little. We’d beg and beg for a treat at the checkout lane. Every once in a while, my mom gave in at let us pick out treats to take home. I remember feeling so special when I got to pick out my own treat. I felt so grownup.

We’d get home, and as my mom unpacked the groceries, my brother and I would sit on the couch and savor the chocolate. We’d try to make it last as long as we could. The room would be quiet, because we were occupied with enjoying. Enjoying chocolate. Enjoying the moment.

How long has it been since I’ve been still enough just to enjoy? Too long. I must take time to enjoy soon.

There’s still time to participate in this week’s assignment! Head over to Wrapped Emotions for the details! If my collage isn’t enough to convince you, Melody is also holding a drawing for a prize from the list of participants. So what are you waiting for? Eat chocolate and create!

Yay, Lannae!!!! I love your collage and that you shared one of your childhood stories. Isn’t it fun how things haven’t changed as much as we think? My boys still do the same thing…begging for a candy treat in the checkout line…and once in a while a mom’s got to say yes.

You’ve captured the childhood spirit! I apologize that mine is not up yet. I’ve been in evaluations with my boys at various doctor’s offices all week. I have my stuff and am on it tonight when I put them to bed. I’ll be early from now on.

Thanks for playing! And yes, there will be a surprise gift each week for one participant randomly drawn.

Don’t worry about not having yours up yet. It was actually kind of nice not having anything to compare my project too. I’m not super-artistic, so when I start comparing, it’s easy to talk myself out of trying.

And switching between blog identities can be a real pain. I’m always signed in as the wrong person, it seems. LOL

Yay, you! I’m still looking for my favorite childhood candy. I’m happy for you that you did it. And what a fine job you did! You get a star and smiley face on your paper…

That makes me stop and think before always saying “No” to the children at the check out line. I want my children to relish sweet memories too. :) Thanks for connecting me to my emotions!!

A star and a smiley face! Yay!!!!

And I think it’s important to say yes at the checkout line every once in a while, as long as it’s not a regular thing. :)

Whenever we pickup prescriptions at the drugstore I always let my 3 year old pick something in the candy aisle. She usually ends up with mini M&Ms and for the rest of the evening she’ll eat one mini little M&M at a time savoring each one. Makes her whole day.

The best part of coming home from shopping was always digging out the candy treat mom let us get. It’s a great memory, thanks for reminding me. your comment about not comparing this project struck me as funny… i refused to look at anyone else’s before making mine because I didn’t want to be influenced at all in what i shoud do. Your’s looks great by the way. Very cheerful!

Kim -Thanks. I went looking for some more subtle construction paper, but my kids must have used it all without telling me we needed more. So I had to use the bright cardstock I had. :)

happier girl - your 3 year old is going to always have fond memories of mini M&Ms. :)

This is great, Lynnae! I’m working on mine. I second Jennifer’s sentiment. I never say yes at the checkout line, and I think I’ll surprise them next time!! Hee Hee.

I love it! I don’t think life could get any better than M&M’s! Your collage looks very much like a festive time which is how life should be not just for a 5 year old, for all.
