Every August I go shopping for a new 16 month calendar. I try to find one with a pocket in the back, but the most important thing about the calendar is that it runs from August of the current year to December of the next.
When my children start school, they always bring home a calendar of the year’s events: school holidays, in-service days, special events, PTA meetings…you get the picture. School schedules in hand, I transfer all the information to my 16 month calendar. That way I never miss and event, and I see potential conflicts in my children’s schedules right away.
I use the pocket to store the month’s lunch menu, so my daughter can decide which days she wants to buy lunch and which days she wants to bring lunch. It’s really simple, but switching from a 12 month calendar to a 16 month calendar made a world of difference in my ability to keep on top of our schedules. It works for me!

Hello, thanks for the nice visit. I love long term calenders too. I use a three year calender I order from Watkins. I have use them for years. I like the pocket idea though.

That’s a good idea. I get tired of trying to remember things that happen in the early part of next year!

This is GREAT!! I am constantly working on getting things organized synced on calendar. I used a day timer for a while but didn’t stay on top of it and am back to a wall calendar.
Thanks for sharing!

Great tip! My tip was almost going to be about my new calendar I found called the mom calendar. It has spaces for each kid and a space for mom to keep track of schedules. It’s funny what a difference it makes to have that 16 month calendar instead of just the 12.
We put our school lunch menu on the fridge at their height so everyone can see it at the same time. Helps to minimize fights. lol

Where do you find a 16 month calendar? Is that pretty standard in the States these days?

Sasha, I’ve used the mom calendar before. It’s great! I couldn’t find one this year, though, so I picked up a different one.
Jennifer, I found mine at Walmart. I wouldn’t say there are a ton of 16 month calendars here, but you can generally find a few in the discount chain stores in August.

I often switch from a schoolagenda to a yearagenda so I won’t forget appointments after the expirationdate of the agenda.
A 16 month one would be great!
