Works-For-Me: Notes to the Tooth Fairy

My daughter lost a tooth today at the orthodontist’s office. She was thrilled. The tooth fairy was coming to visit! I was scared to death! I ALWAYS forget to perform my tooth fairy duties, and I was so tired today, I knew it wouldn’t be at the top of my list of things to do tonight.

I suggested that my daughter write a note to the tooth fairy and leave it in a fairly prominent place in the house. You see, the tooth fairy has forgotten her before. I know. It’s sad, and you can pass me the bad mom award. I just can’t seem to get the tooth fairy thing together.

Anyway, back to my story. I had my daughter write a note to the tooth fairy, so the tooth fairy wouldn’t get lost trying to find her bedroom. It worked. My daughter enjoyed making a little note for the tooth fairy, and I have a nice reminder to swap out the tooth for the money before I go to bed tonight. Maybe the tooth fairy will even write a short note back.

I wish I would have thought of this before, as my daughter is just about through losing teeth. At least I know better for my son.

this is an awesome idea. i know that we are coming into tooth fairy season with my 6 -year -old (although we are all pretty dentally retarded so it might be a while) and i guarantee i’ll forget at least once. a note is brilliant. it would be funny to have the kiddo write out directions to his room for the fairy, eh?

I’ll have to remember this for when my 2 1/2 year old is older. I’m going to be one of those moms who forgets too!

The tooth fairy in our district didn’t come for two nights in a row! Can you imagine?!?!?!?

Apparently tooth fairies don’t do zippers. We figured this out as we had put the tooth into a zippered little purse the first two nights and she didn’t come. On the third night we used a different little bag and sure enough, she came. Fussy fussy. But she left more than the usual amount of loot, so it worked out okay.

That’s a great idea! Our tooth fairy is occasionally a bit forgetful too. I did a tooth fairy tip this week too.

My son was hit in the mouth this summer w/a baseball. He had to have two teeth pulled. He had yet to lose a tooth, so this was supposed to be a big deal. Well, they recently discovered there is no Santa, so I think my ds was suspicious about the TF.

The dentist gave him a cute little box for his teeth and the money. He went to bed and put the box on his desk. I put the money in the box while it was dark and I didn’t realize there was only one tooth.

The next morning he woke up and was mad because he had payment for 2 teeth, but only one was gone. He had put the other tooth under his pillow. In his words ” the real tooth fairy would know where I put them”, so I was busted LOL.

I used to forget all too often, too. One time my oldest wrote a note to the tooth fairy saying if she kept forgetting him he’d stop giving her teeth. :)

Oh this is a great idea! We’ve only had 3 lost teeth so far here, so it’s been a big deal each time, but I can see having the same problem once it’s not such a novelty. I’ll have to remember this tip! :)

LOL My girls gave up on the fairy…they hand me their tooth knowing that the tooth fairy has a bad memory and hold out their hand for their cash…LOL!!

The tooth fairly has been guilty of forgetting about teeth numorous times in our house. Our fairy would have been fired from an ordinary job by now!

Well, I’m glad I’m not the only tooth fairy that forgets! LOL

I just have to thank you for this tip. Just last night the tooth fairy forgot to visit my almost 7 year old daughter. She was devastated. I made up a good excuse for the tooth fairy and said that since K lost her tooth so late in the evening, there must have been a lot of kids ahead of her and the tooth fairy ran out of time. Reading your tip tonight SAVED me! I immediately got up and played tooth fairy! Thanks!! In the future, I think we’ll have to do the tooth fairy note. Otherwise, the kids are going to think that the tooth fairy is lame… they may be right. ;)

I’m glad I could be of assistance! :)

Great idea!

Now I have to wait for grandchildren to use it. LOL!

Oh yeah! This is a great idea. I’m constantly forgetting my tooth fairy duties. It’s terrible! One year the Molenator (sp?) left ds a note, saying he couldn’t find the tooth and would come back sometime that week. ha! Whatever it takes to cover your tracks.

Our tooth fairy has been known to get lost out in the cow pasture for days at a time. This is a GREAT idea!!!

We forgot once and I told her the tooth fairy was on vacation and that I couldn’t call her but would email her. So I set up an reminder call on the internet so I wouldn’t forget. She got her 50 cents and all was right again.

Isn’t weird that we are the tooth fairy, Easter bunny and Santa Claus? I never thought that day would come.
