You should be. 41 of our elected Senators have taken time out of their day to draft a letter to Rush Limbaugh’s boss, demanding that Rush apologize for comments he made about “phony soldiers.” Now, there is some controversy as to whether or not Rush actually made those comments, and I haven’t looked into what he did and did not say, because that’s not the point here.
Regardless of your political affiliation, you should be very concerned here. The first amendment of the United States gives us the right of free speech, and the last time I looked “free speech” didn’t depend on whether other people like what you have to say or not. You may not like Rush Limbaugh or agree with his point of view, but he has the right to speak. I may not agree with Al Sharpton on a lot of issues, but he still has the right to express his viewpoint. And that’s what makes America great. We have the right to speak our opinion. If we don’t like what someone is saying, we have the right to turn off the TV or the radio. We don’t need Senators stepping in (on time paid for with tax-payer money) to shut down one of the most fundamental rights in America.
If you are concerned about Big Brother stepping on our rights to free speech, head over to Conservative Kids to find out how you can send the Senate a strong message that you don’t want them taking away America’s right to free speech. There is a copy of the Senators’ letter at the Conservative Kids website. Please get involved. This is an important issue, regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum.

I agree completely! Heck I don’t agree with half of what Rush says, but he has the right to say it. It seems like Free Speech only applies if you’re wanting to kill babies or obliterate Christianity. We HAVE to take a stand now while there is still time.
