I posted before that I have lost my focus on this blog. Now it’s time to find it again. When I first started blogging, this was supposed to be a personal journal to keep me focused on the important things in life. But I never really found that focus. I think the reason was that I hadn’t set any goals. It’s hard to be focused, when you don’t know what you’re supposed to be focusing on.
So, I’m going to do a little experiment for the next year. I’m going to actually set some goals. My close friends and family who are reading this are probably falling off their chairs right now. Goal setting and follow through is not my strong point. But I’m really going to try this year.
And I’m not talking resolutions or dreams. As I’ve learned with my financial goals over at beingfrugal.net, setbacks happen. You adjust and move on, but you don’t give up. I just need to apply that to other areas of my life.
With that in mind, this is how my blog is going to work over the next year. I’m going to set goals in five different areas of my life and blog about those areas over the course of the week. Weekends will be reserved for random fun stuff…or nothing at all. I’m keeping the weekends flexible.
That said, here’s my new topical blogging schedule:
- Monday - Faith
- Tuesday - Family
- Wednesday - Home Organization
- Thursday - Blogging & Productivity
- Friday - Health
- Saturday & Sunday - Anything Goes.
Over the next week, I’ll be outlining my goals for each of those areas, and you can follow my progress over the next year. I promise not to just talk about me though. I’ll share what’s working, what’s not working, what I’m reading to help me, and stories that inspire me. I also promise to be completely genuine. If I’m not doing well in a particular area, I’ll own up to it. And if I’ve met my goal, I’ll invite you to celebrate with me.
So stay tuned. Next week, I’ll reveal the goals!

Sounds like a great idea. I have thought many times about setting themes for each day of the week to post about. I am just way too random to ever stick to it though. At least I know that about myself though.

Thanks, you two. I find I do a little bit better with a bit of a schedule. I’m sure I’ll throw the random funny kid story in, too. But I need a little structure.
