For the last day of my week-long focus on goals, I’m going to focus on health goals. This isn’t my favorite area to work on, but the older I get, the more I realize I really need to take better care of myself. I’m going to break my goals down into the things I’m focusing on this month and the things I’d like to accomplish by the end of the year.
For January I’ll be working on two things.
1. Drinking water. I do not drink enough water. Not by a long shot. I think water is boring. However, I can also tell when I’m dehydrated, because I start to get headaches. So this month, I am banning all pop from the house, and I will be drinking water with my meals. I’d love to say I’m going to carry out the pop ban for the entire year, but for now I’m going to limit my goal to one month. It’s less overwhelming and more achievable for me.
2. Sleep. My husband’s crazy schedule is starting to affect my schedule. A good example was last night. I was up until 2 am when Jim came home from job #1. I said goodnight to him, but woke up again when he left for job #2 at 4:30. Chances are, I’ll be catnapping here and there throughout the day, while my kids are hopefully occupied with something constructive. In the coming weeks, I will be focusing on trying to get to sleep at a decent hour at night (I’m shooting for 10:00), so I can be more productive in the morning.
Over the course of the next year, I have two more health related goals.
1. Lose 20 lbs. I know, I know. Everyone has this goal. And it was my goal last year too. This year, my husband is on board with me, though. Losing weight is always easier when you have the support of your family. Maybe I challenge my husband to a race to see who can lose 20 lbs first.
2. Consistently eat the RDA of fruits and vegetables. Up until now I’ve had my good days and my bad days, but my fruit and veggie eating habits are really inconsistent. I’m giving myself a year to straighten up.
Now you know all of the goals I’ve set for myself this year. I know there are a lot, but I love structure and a good challenge. Blogging about my progress will hold me accountable too. I hope. Maybe.

Great list Lynnae! I haven’t written mine yet… Off to a running start, aren’t I? Glad I can comment over here again - for a few weeks I haven’t been able to see a comment link on your page. I meant to email you, but we got kinda busy during the holidays. Hope your Christmas was lovely!

@childlife - Hmmm. Wonder what was up with my comments. My theme changed slightly recently, and I’ve been working out the kinks.
Don’t ever hesitate to tell me something is broken. I’m not the most observant person in the world, and I don’t always notice.
@carrie - speaking of sleep, I think I slept for about 10 hours last night. It was wonderful!

Your health goals are pretty similar to mine. I’ve already bombed my attempts to get in bed by 10:00.
Looking forward to reading about your goals—maybe it’ll help with mine!

I seen a cartoon once showing a mother and her child. Child says “Mommy is going on a diet… Were all going to die!!!” Good luck with that and I’m very pleased to meet you.

Diets can be so difficult. I often just exercise and eat right–diet doesn’t work well for me.
