Thankful Thursday - I Feel Like Dancing!

TtbuttonIris at Sting My Heart, Thankful Thursday’s home base, mentioned the song "Blessed Be Your Name" in her post today.  Immediately my toes started tapping as the song played through my head.  It’s one of my all time favorites.  I will bless the Lord not only "when the sun’s shining down on me", but also "on the road marked with suffering."

It’s been an up and down week, but I have so much to be thankful for.

1.  My husband was offered a new job.  The pay isn’t great to start off, but it’s in a field that he loves, and he could go far with it.  It’s definitely better than where he’s working now.  I thank the Lord that he will finally have a job he enjoys again.

2.  My husband and I are both pretty much over our illnesses.  It was a tough week, being down sick, but my kids were a huge help around the house.  And now we’re on the mend.

3.  God’s provision.  Every time I balance the checkbook, I am amazed that we still have money left at the end of the month.  Things have been tight, but God always provides.  I don’t know how He does it, but that’s why He’s God, and I am not.

4.  I’m thankful that my daughter has a good friend.  This time of year is always a little nerve wracking with kids going back to school.  My daughter is in public school, and I’m constantly worried about the influences there.  Her friend is a very good influence, and they weather the trials of grade school together.

5.  God is with me always, no matter where I go, even when I try to hide from Him.  I am always in His presence, and he cares for me, no matter how bad my attitude is.  I can’t help but be thankful for His unconditional love.

Thankful Thursday Thirteen #2

July 25, 2007

I’m thankful for:

1.  My children’s laughter. It goes straight to my heart!

2.  Christian authors. I
love to read, and it’s even better when the book challenges or lifts me
spiritually.

3.  Tivo. I hate watching
commercials.

4.  Vacation Bible School. My children love it, and they learn so much.

5.  The warm, sunny weather. I can line dry my clothes and save on the electric bill.

6.  Shannon’s Bloggy Giveaway idea. It’s been so much fun, and I’ve discovered a
lot of really cool blogs.

7.  MamaBlogga’s Group Writing Project. It forced me to really slow down and
appreciate my mom.

8.  My mom. She brought
me up well.

9.  The love of Jesus. I
was reading this blog post by SingForHim94, and I was just overwhelmed with
gratitude toward God.

10.  God’s provision. Financially it’s been a bit tough lately, but all of our needs have been
met. And I know God will continue to
meet our needs. He’s never let us down.

11.  Veggie Tales. My kids
have been on a The Toy That Saved Christmas kick this week. It’s given me a few quiet moments to get my
head together.

12.  eBay. I made a few
extra dollars this week by selling some of my kids’ outgrown clothes.

13.  Everyone who’s reading this. I like making new bloggy friends. So thanks for stopping by!

Thankful Thursday Thirteen #1

July 19, 2007

I have so much to be thankful for these days.  Here are just a few of the things I’m thankful for this week.

1.  The cool weather.  I’m really appreciating the rain and 80 degree weather after that run of 100 degree days a couple of weeks ago.

2.  My husband’s work ethic.  Sales have not been good for him since he started his new job, but he keeps plugging away without complaining.

3.  That we’ve all been healthy this summer.  It’s scary being without health insurance, and I’m glad we haven’t had to go to the doctor, or worse, the emergency room.

4.  Dave Ramsey.  I’ve been listening to his podcast every morning.  It’s really keeping me motivated to stay on course to becoming debt free.

5.  Our local fruit stand.  It’s wonderful to taste the fresh fruits and vegetables that are now in season.

6.  The neighbor boy.   It’s nice that my son can run around outside with a friend anytime he likes.

7.  The internet.  It really makes things like staying connected to friends, paying bills, and doing research much easier.  Plus it gives me a creative outlet in my blogs.

8.  Quiet mornings.  I’ve been walking every morning.  It’s nice to get some exercise in the fresh air.  The sun comes out early, and it’s not too hot or too cold.  I can just enjoy the crisp, cool air and gather my thoughts.

9.  That my children are getting along.  Enough said.

10.  That my desk is decluttered at the moment.  I can actually find everything.

11.  Worship music.  I’ve had How Can I Keep From Singing by Chris Tomlin in my head for days now.

12.  God’s promise to never leave me nor forsake me.

13.  My online friends who are always there, whether I need to laugh, cry, or just have some adult "conversation" in the middle of the day.
