Linky Love - I’m Sleeping In This Morning Edition

November 3, 2007

For the first time in weeks, we don’t have a soccer game to go to this morning. So I wrote this lovely post last night, and I am sleeping in this morning.

Here are some posts I found thought provoking this week.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Linky Love - Things that make me smile edition

October 20, 2007

It’s been a rough week.  My husband lost his job, so the mood has been a little blue in our house this week.  Still, there have been plenty of smiles.  Here are some of the things in bloggy-world that have made me smile.

  • I discovered a new-to-me blog that had me rolling with laughter.  Canned Laughter by TX Poppet.  Thanks, TX Poppet for commenting on my blog so I could find yours!
  • Cardiogirl has coined a new phrase:  “I had to cuss out the pig.”   It means  I’m not doing so well.  I wish I would have known about that phrase earlier this week.
  • I made the stew recipe that Kandy posted at Ramblings of a Redneck Woman.  Until now I have never had a stew turn out right, but her recipe was so easy!  I’ll be making it again for sure!  It was definitely a bright spot on a rainy autumn day.
  • Melody at Slurping Life shows us how to cuss like an Aspie.  (is it bad that I’m amused by all these cussing posts this week?)
  • Rebecca at A Walk Through the Valley posted a You-Tube video of Fernando Ortega’s Give Me Jesus.  It’s a great song, and really that’s what it’s all about, right?

Finally, make sure you stop by Where the Heart is to leave some encouragement for Jennifer.  Her baby should  be arriving any day now, and I’m sure she would appreciate the extra prayers.

Enjoy the reading, and have a great weekend!

Linky Love - Blogs About Blogging

October 13, 2007

I’ve been short on time this week, so this is an easy special edition of Linky Love.  From time to time I get emails looking for blogging advice, so I thought today I’d link to my favorite blogs about….blogging.  These are blogs I read almost every day….or at the very least, skim through once a week.

  • Problogger.net - It’s a blog about making money on your blog, but there is a lot of excellent advice about blogging.  I never miss a post.
  • Skelliewag.org - I’ve recently discovered this blog.  Skellie writes often about site simplicity and making your blog user-friendly.  She even did a review of beingfrugal.net for me, and she really helped me improve my blog.  I have yet to implement some of her suggestions over here.j
  • Blogging Basics 101 - This blog is written by Shannon of Rocks in My Dryer and Chilihead of Don’t Try This at Home.  I like this blog, because it covers the very basics.  It’s not as intimidating as some of the more well known blogging blogs.

I know this isn’t a lot of links this week, but once you start reading these blogs, you won’t be able to stop.  Trust me, you’ll be busy for a while.  So read and enjoy, and learn how to make your blog better.  Just don’t come back and point out all the shortcomings of my blog.  :)

Linky Love - I need a good laugh edition

October 6, 2007

I’ve already told you that this hasn’t been the best of weeks.  Fortunately for me, I have many bloggy friends out there who kept me rolling with laughter, despite my blue mood this week.  Here are a few of the things that made me smile.

Grab a cup of tea and have a good chuckle!  I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I did.

Linky Love - New Discoveries and an Award!

September 29, 2007

As I was making my way around the blogosphere this week, I found a few new-to-me blogs that are just fabulous!  I thought I’d let you in on my discoveries, so you can enjoy these blogs, too!

Also, I received this award from Michelle at In the Life of a Child.  It’s the Mathetes Award, given for excellence in discipleship.  I am absolutely blown away that she would think I deserve an award for excellence in discipleship.  I can tell you, that’s not me.  That’s God for sure!  I am truly humbled.

And now I must pass on this award to 5 other people.  So, I am going to pass the Mathetes Award for Excellence in Discipleship to:

  • Jennifer at Where the Heart is.   Jennifer’s faith just amazes me.  She has been through some hard times, yet she still is able to praise the Lord through those times.
  • Rebecca at A Walk Through the Valley.  Rebecca isn’t one of those Christian’s who pretends to be perfect.  She’s open with her struggles, and I think a lot of people could learn from her example.  As Christians, we don’t have to be perfect.  We should strive to be authentic, though, and Rebecca is just that.
  • Heather at Especially Heather.  Even as she struggles with cancer, Heather is always encouraging others in their faith.  I usually go to her blog to pray for her, but I end up being blessed by her words every time I visit.
  • De at Just Another Day in Paradise.  I met her through Wrapped Emotions, and I just love visiting her blog.  She’s one of those bloggers who doesn’t necessarily post on her faith outright very often, but you can just tell by her writing that she’s got something special going with God.  I really appreciated this post, because I can totally relate to it.
  • Julie at the Surrendered Scribe.  I also met her through Wrapped Emotions.  The banner on her blog reads, “My past was all about fearing rejection and worrying about what others thought of me. My present is all about obeying God, surrendering my fears, and stepping out of the comfort zone. My future is sharing His messages of encouragement and love with you, as well as personal posts on marriage, parenthood, writing, ministry, and pretty much anything in between! Be encouraged, blessed, challenged, but be back often!”  That pretty much says it all!

Have a very blessed weekend, everyone!

Linky Love - Wrapped Emotions Edition

September 15, 2007

It’s late at night, and I’m too tired to write my weekend link love post. But I can’t bear the thought of not sharing some link love this weekend. I’ve read so many great posts, but the ones that stand out in my mind the most are the posts from this week’s Wrapped Emotions project. All the ladies did a fabulous job. And let’s face it. Anyone who has the courage to lay flat on her back in a public place and take pictures, and then publish them on the internet for all to see deserves a mention.

So, here they are. The participants in this week’s Wrapped Emotions project.

I had such a great time reading through all these entries. I hope you do as well. If you want to participate next week, check at Wrapped Emotions on Monday for the new project. Melody always thinks of something that’s lots of fun. Challenging, but fun. :)

Linky Love - Deep Thoughts and Emotions

September 8, 2007

It seems like mom-bloggers all over the internet are wrestling with deep thoughts this week.  I really enjoyed the mental challenge as I read through some of your posts.   Here are some of the highlights.

Jennifer at Where the Heart is asked if superficiality is a sin.  It’s a thought provoking post.  What do you think?

Heather wrote about Cancer’s Unexpected Blessings.  I would never have thought cancer could bring about blessings, but Heather makes it clear that God can bring blessings through anything.  I was truly humbled by reading her post.  It’s a must-read, so head on over there now!

Jenny from LIVE! And In Color wrestled with why she started blogging and what her blog had become.   I applaud her for getting back to why she started blogging in the first place.  It’s easy to get sidetracked at times, and it’s good to get back to the heart of the matter.

Rebecca at A Walk Through the Valley wrote about integrity and the church.  She then challenged her readers to examine their own integrity.  I know I’m going to be thinking about this over the weekend.

Finally, Melody started an entire blog devoted to exploring emotions!   She’s giving weekly assignments, and they’re lots of fun!  You can see my first project here.   Be sure to check back at Wrapped Emotions on Monday for a new assignment!

I’d just like to thank all of you bloggers and commenters out there for challenging me to think.  So often it’s easy to get wrapped up in my own little world, and it’s good to have to wrestle with a deep though every once in a while!

Linky Love - Big Announcements Edition

September 1, 2007

It’s been a week of big happenings around the blogosphere! Obviously, my big announcement was the moving of this blog. Here are some other big things that have been going on in Bloggyland this week.

Karla at Looking Towards Heaven is back home after giving birth to a beautiful baby boy. Congratulations to Karla and her family!

Greg at Mind Flakes told us that he and his family will be participating in their local Buddy Walk this month. The Buddy Walk benefits the Trisomy 21 program at The Children’s Hospital of Philedelphia. It’s a great cause, so head over to Mind Flakes to read more about it.

Mommy Zabs dropped her son off at preschool for the very first time. Oh how I remember Liz’s first day of school. It’s happy and sad, all at the same time.
Melody at Slurping Life announced that the unveiling of her new blog will happen this Monday, September 3. Sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun, so check it out!

And finally, congratulations to Elizabeth at Table for Five, who celebrated her two year blogging anniversary this week! To someone like me, who is fairly new to blogging, two years sounds like a really long time!
